Digital Psychiatry & Telepsychiatry

Digital psychiatry is not about replacing personal contact with technology.

It is about using digital solutions when they can make psychiatric assessment, treatment and follow-up more accessible and flexible – without compromising clinical judgement.

When is video a good option?

A video consultation may be appropriate when the consultation and psychiatric assessment can be carried out safely and effectively remotely.

Among other things, it can make it easier to attend follow-up consultations and continue treatment when distance, work or other practical circumstances make in-person attendance more difficult.

Treatment does not stop when the video consultation ends.

The clinical assessment, treatment plan and follow-up remain at the core of the process.

When is an in-person consultation best?

Telepsychiatry is not the right solution in every situation.

An in-person consultation is chosen when an examination is needed, when the clinical situation requires it, or when direct personal contact is considered the best option.

Therefore, we do not follow the principle of digital or in-person treatment, but rather: the right form of contact at the right time.

Hybrid treatment

The clinic is located at Havneholmen in Copenhagen and offers in-person consultations. When clinically appropriate, parts of a treatment programme can also take place via secure video consultations.

This means that the form of contact can be adapted to the treatment – rather than the treatment having to be adapted to the technology.

Combining In-Person and Video Consultations

For many patients, the most appropriate solution may be a combination of in-person and video consultations.

Some consultations can take place at the clinic in Copenhagen, while others can be conducted via secure video, depending on what is clinically appropriate at each stage of the treatment.

This provides flexibility while maintaining continuity and professional quality throughout the course of treatment.
